Very disappointed with the results! My cousin booked this for me and her to get our hair styled as it was for my birthday! We were both really disappointed with the results. Not only did it seem like a bad job, it seriously didn’t last? We had a 10 minute walk home and by the time we got home both our curls are fallen and it looked bad. We could have done a better job ourselves. I had asked for a very simple blowout style look with big curls and lots of volume. The stylist used a straighten to first straighten my hair (my hair is slightly wavy naturally) and then she went over again with the straightener to just curl my hair. I was expecting her to at least use a round brush to give volume or use a volumizing spray. For what you pay, it just wasn’t worth it and was rather disappointing for the service. I’ve added the reference photo I showed the stylist and what the end result was. The only redeeming part of the experience was Mikey at the bar. He was awesome! Made us very delicious drinks and made me feel special. He was super personable and truly made the experience fun. My stylist herself was also fine and very friendly! I just wasn’t happy with the result considering the price you pay.
Shauna was amazing, I felt so beautiful for my family photos on the beach! My hair gets so frizzy with the climate in Hawaii so she helped recommend the right products to help manage my hair. She made me feel comfortable and was so fun to talk to, highly recommend her!!
Avoid this place at all costs , worst experience I had at a hair salon my whole life , I done my hair while I was in Waikiki for my anniversary and we were having a fancy dinner at upscale place , didn’t even last until I made it there. The hair stylist didn’t know what she was doing at all and took hour and half and at last looked really bad. On top of that they add 20% gratuity automatically without earning it and then have another option to add more tips , ended up paying more than 81$ for just blow dry that looked the worst , way better to do your hair at home rather to go to this place. And then the girl at the counter had the nerve to ask me to schedule an appointment for hour or more next time with a higher charge as my hair need more time being longer , not that you guys don’t know how to do simple bowdry.
Avoid this place. Everything is an add on. The service is average and sneaky. Automatically applying 20% tip despite not earning it. They take your customer drink order and only after they’ve crafted a custom cocktail for you then tell you it’s separate. Drinks are closed out at a separate register so when I closed out with reception I was then chased down like a criminal for the drink which I assumed I had already paid for. What an awful experience to end my trip. Find an alternate option for a blow out - I regret not supporting a local small business.
I had the worst experience at the Drybar in Waikiki Beach International Market. I made an appointment three days in advance and clearly communicated that I was going to a wedding — the most important wedding ever — and showed them the specific hairstyle I wanted. I was expecting a polished, beautiful look, but what I got was an absolute disaster. The stylist didn’t listen to my requests. From the very beginning, I asked to see the style as she worked, but she kept saying we were on a time limit. I had told them upfront that I only had an hour and a half, but I never expected that would result in a rushed, terrible outcome. Towards the end, I realized that my hair looked nothing like what I had asked for — it was literally a mess. I had a bird's nest on my head! I had requested a spilt in middle and Hollywood waves, but instead, I got frizzy, tangled hair that looked nothing like the picture I showed. I even asked her to undo the half-up style because it made me look like I was stuck in the '90s. When I finally saw the end result, I was shocked. I ended up paying $81 for something I couldn't even leave the salon with, so I quickly threw my hair up in a clip and went straight to the wedding. I was in tears because of how bad it was. I highly recommend avoiding this place or at least leaving yourself 3 hours to wash and redo the hair yourself. It was honestly a nightmare, and I regret wasting my time and money here.
Both hair and makeup turned out great! Michael was my makeup artist and not only is he talented but also very professional and personable. The bar manager, Mike, made u the most creative and tasty drinks. Such a fun experience!
I love this place. Everyone is super friendly and my blowouts were all amazing! Great shampoo too. This is a must see, must do, must have blowout!
DO NOT COME HERE. I called a week ahead to schedule a blow out was told I got an appointment at 12. Came at 12 with soaking wet hair from the beach ( only did a body shower ) Was told I was scheduled for dry styling. I can’t do a dry styling I need a wash. Was told sorry we only have 30 minutes . Okay? Then blow dry my hair and style it? Was told no and was turned away ruined my day & my plans and doesn’t help that there were engagement photos .
Low key one of the best bartenders/mixologists on the island. Mikey is a skilled craftsman that will open your mind as to what a cocktail should be. They do hair too but I was there for the magician. Don’t pass this place up!
Great cocktails. Mikey makes all of his own syrups with fresh ingredients, and personally selects the spirits with an eye towards Terroir. I’ve traveled the world and visited some renowned places for creativity in food and drinks. The Dry Bar is one the best cocktail places on the planet! The care and craft that goes into these cocktails is a cut above. If you don’t like a particular spirit, I bet he can challenge you with something delicious and unique. Absolutely incredible establishment with quality service and a great vibe!
