I’ve been to this salon a few times before and usually had a pretty good experience. I’d always get my full service, pay afterwards, and leave a nice tip. The other nail techs have always been kind and professional. However, this last visit really changed my view. The lady who worked on me this time—she was at seat number nine—started off by filing my nails and giving me a massage, which was fine. But then, before applying the nail color, she told me to go wash my hands even though I still had lotion on from the massage, and she made me pay right in the middle of the service. It felt really awkward and honestly a bit humiliating because I’m used to paying at the end. I still left a generous tip like I always do, but I really didn’t like how the whole situation was handled. It’s a shame because the other technicians have always been nice, but after this experience, I don’t think I’ll be coming back.
There may be good technicians here but I unfortunately did not get a good one. It took over 2 hours for a pedi (no gel) and a full set (coffin/solid color/gel). While the pedi happened, my nails were painted wet (no gel) when they did the hot stone and their apron rubbed against the wet toes (toe painting should be last). For the full set, one of the nails was shaved too far and messed uo the shape. They continued to try and keep shaving it to correct the issue- ended up shaving down my actual nail to the point of pain. And I have random glitter in the nails and one thumb didn’t get a full clear coat. I also have gel stuck on my fingers - all nail techs know they’re supposed to clean that up as soon as possible because gel exposure on skin can cause an allergy. I went back and told them I was unhappy. The person who did my nails offered to correct it, but I had no interest in letting her be the one to fix it and left.
I go here for pedicures only. I like this place because they use bags in their pedicure sinks so that helps with cleanliness. The prices are not too bad either. I really enjoy Helen, she has a great personality and cracks me up everytime. A lot of people come here for manicures too, and have commented that they like these also. I called and made an appointment for 4 people the day before but when we got there they had not reserved the seating so we had to wait about 30min, so personally, I don't think it makes a difference to call in to reserve. I do recommend this place. If you have read this review, please hit the like button. Thank you!
Essence is a wonderful nail salon! I drive 45 minutes each way for a reason… they’re lovely people and very detail-oriented in their work! They did a great job of putting gel ON my nails (pic on the left) — it lasted over 2 weeks — and then they did a great job of taking me back to my natural nails (pic on the right). Always a pleasant atmosphere!
Super frustrated to say the least. I showed her the picture I wanted and she did not even come close to the color. The French tips were all uneven. My ring finger nail shape is completely off compared to the other and looks super thick. The hearts looks sloppy and rushed. Won’t be coming back.
I went here awhile back so review is late but this was not a good experience. Pedicure and new set took over 3 hours and the work was horrible. I wasted a lot of time and money. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.
UPDATED Owner kim offered to make it right i will return and add a manicure as well. Thank you Usually go here every 2 weeks but i dont think ill be returning did a deluxe pedicure and only got my nails trimmed and a quick buff was not happy nor am i the type of person to complain i will just not return
I called in day of for an appointment and got a booking. Lee and Kim were super nice and skilled as they worked together to make this complicated but super cute design! Thank y’all! It’s the best sets of nails I’ve ever had!
I love going to Essence salon, everyone is extremely friendly and do a great job on my nails. I have been a customer since 2017 (7 years). I will continue to visit Essence for my mani & pedi’s.
This was my first time here. I requested a dip manicure. My nails are uneven and requested square, some are rounded and cuticles were not trimmed, powder on outter edges of dip were not well smoothed that it looks cakey. the only thing done was applying the colored dip powder. The cuticle oil pretty much covered the rigidness of the edges of the dip. I'm disappointed with it and sad I wasted my money here. Going elsewhere to fix this disaster.
