Plane Jane is the most comfortable salon I have been to. I have followed my stylist, Amanda, for years from her previous salons. I was so excited the first time I visited her at PJ and I did not get my hopes up for nothing! Scheduling was a breeze and I got a quick response when I booked my appointment. I’ve experimented myself with box dyes but Amanda was able to color correct my hair to be the exact shade I had in mind. It also didn’t take multiple appointments over the course of months, she’s very quick and precise. She’s also very attentive to my hair cut too. I asked for layers and a trim on my bangs and she made sure I was happy with the cut/shape before just saying she was finished. I can’t wait to go back and see what transformation the Plane Jane team has for me!

I’ve been going to Plane Jane since they opened in their old location and absolutely will not go anywhere else. This team of stylists are extremely knowledgeable and professional. The salon is such a vibe with the best music. I usually see Max and Jasmine who never steer me wrong but I can tell every stylist listens to their clients and gives honest advice. I usually get color and haircuts and they are always willing to tell me if they think something doesn’t work on me. Love this place!

I’ve been a client at Plane Jane Salon since their very first location in Bethesda, and I’ve been going to Max (the owner) for over 20 years. The salon has an incredible vibe—modern, welcoming, and effortlessly cool. Max and Grace have built a team of truly talented stylists and colorists, each handpicked for their skill and artistry. Everyone here is not only amazing at what they do but also genuinely friendly, making every visit a great experience. Booking is always super easy, and communication is clear and seamless, which makes scheduling stress-free. The haircuts I get here are consistently fantastic—not only do they look sharp when I leave the salon, but they also grow out beautifully and keep looking amazing for months. If you’re looking for a salon with exceptional talent, great energy, and results that last, Plane Jane Salon is the place. Highly recommend!

The haircut was expensive. Her technique was good, but she ignored the picture I brought and gave me an old lady pixie cut. Big chunks of hair around my ears and too long on top. Vibe requested was sexy elf, got Uncle Fester. The layers were not blended at all, you can see a definite line from the long layer on top to the short sides. I regret saying “feminine pixie” and would have loved a butch cut that was textured and blended properly

Never had the chance to try because no one cared to get back to me! They don’t have a front desk that answers the phone or schedules for you- it’s all done virtually by texting and filling out forms, even for a NEW client. Very obscure and cold. However, I followed the instructions sent sent via text, took the time to fill out the form they required as a new client (which includes pictures of my hair- where the heck did those end up?!), did the requested research on their stylists’ IG to ID one I liked, and then waited… and waited… and waited. I followed up 4x without any reply. In short: frustrating and unprofessional. Seems they’re not interested in new clients or in providing customer service.

I recommend Plane Jane without reservation. Jinnie is my goddess of hair cutting. How does she get my wiry, weirdly wavy salt-and-pepper hair to look glamorous? It's magic! She's really nice, and makes my hubby very happy to have geriatric eye candy on his arm.

I’ve been going to this salon for over 7 and never had a bad experience! I generally see Max for both color and cut, but I’ve seen other stylists when I need a last-minute appointment and everything has always been amazing. The service is great and the knowledge of hair care, newest styling trends, and products is unbeatable. I recommend them to all my friends.

Spotted this place while walking.Popped in today and Max met me at the door. I explained that I was in search of a new salon for a cut and maybe color. He told me he doesn’t have a brochure (I didn’t think they would have one nor did I ask for one) and instead of him or anyone assisting me, inquiring about what I’m looking for, or recommending a stylist to make an appointment with, directed me to his website and then to individually check each team member IG. I found it to be incredibly rude and will happily find another salon

Love this place so much! I've been coming to Angela for maybe 14 years now (here and at her previous location) and she creates magic! I have tried many different hairstyles with her and love them all. My son is also a fan and a client, too. Feels like family after all these years, and we are grateful!!
