I spent $1,400 at Moss & Moon, and the extensions were a disaster. They started falling apart within days, with strings sticking out everywhere. The extensions were far too heavy for my fine hair, causing pain, scalp tension, and real concern about long term damage. When I finally went to another salon after three weeks, the stylists were shocked at the state of my hair. They said the install was so sloppy and poorly done that if I had left it in any longer, I could have developed tension alopecia and permanent damage to my scalp. I have photos documenting exactly how bad it was, and I had to spend even more money to have everything removed and redone. On top of the poor quality, Marissa constantly cancels and reschedules appointments, making it nearly impossible to get consistent care. This entire experience was a waste of time and money and put my hair at risk. If you value your hair and your health, avoid Moss & Moon.

I had the best experience with Allison! I originally booked a partial balayage but ended up doing a full balayage with a cut at the last minute and she was so accommodating and fit me into her schedule. The end result came out even better than I had imagined, I absolutely love my hair! Allison was awesome to talk to throughout the whole process, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Even though I’m only in the area for a couple of months, I would definitely come back just to see Allison again. She’s the only one I trust with my hair now!

The best hair salon in Columbia! As a college student at USC, I was nervous about getting my hair done in a new city and didn’t know which stylists I could trust with my hair but then someone recommended Moss & Moon and they are the ABSOLUTE BEST! Not only do I trust Marissa with my hair, but I would also trust her with my life! She is so sweet and fun and treats her clients like family. Marissa and the rest of the salon staff were also super supportive of my influencer era and encouraged me to film my little videos for TikTok☺️I’ve gotten haircuts, bang trims, and an up do for my sorority formal and have never received more compliments on my hair! I just love the energy there!

This salon is the ultimate! Not only did they take me last minute, but Allison gave me the cutest and quickest cut and color of my life! I cannot recommend this salon enough. The vibe is also super vibey and adorable making you feel comfortable and pampered

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ After recently relocating to Blythewood, SC from our home of 28+ years in Virginia, one of my challenges was finding a new hair stylist. In Virginia, I had been with the same stylist for nearly 20 years, so I was understandably nervous about starting over. After some thorough online research, I found Moss and Moon— and Marissa quickly put my worries to rest. From the start, Marissa was warm, attentive, and genuinely listened to what I wanted. I told her I wanted to keep the length so I could still wear ponytails, but I also wanted something stylish and feminine. She absolutely delivered! I felt like she really understood my vision and enhanced it with her own creative touch. We also talked about color, and she chose a beautiful combination: a bright copper tone balanced by a golden hue. The result was stunning — it reminded me of my childhood hair, naturally sun-kissed and glowing. It felt both fresh and familiar at the same time. Even the shampoo experience was worth mentioning — the chair at her washing station was incredibly comfortable with no neck strain at all (a small detail, but it made a big difference!). If you're new to the area or just looking for a stylist who truly listens and delivers exceptional results, I can't recommend Marissa at Moss and Moon highly enough!

Marissa is AMAZING!!! She turned a total hair flop into the most amazing hair color I have ever had! The appointment was so fun and I can’t thank the girls there enough for everything!! Today was the best self love day ever!!

Me and my mother had such a wonderful experience here. Allison was very kind and did a wonderful job on both of our hair. The atmosphere is amazing and everyone in the salon including other customers were very friendly. I also have a service dog and she enjoyed making friends with the owners dog. Overall, I will definitely recommend this place to anyone I know. :)

Loved my experience at Moss and Moon. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. My appointment was with Allison for color and cut. Allison did an amazing job blending my gray so it blends in naturally. She listened to my concerns about being able to maintain look once I left the salon and delivered!

I typically don't leave reviews but wanted to share my experience at Moss and Moon. I first booked my appointment with Lexi and showed her a Pinterest picture of what I wanted. (photo is attached). I left feeling good about it because it was all curled and blown out. A couple days later I started to really not like it because the highlights were only placed on the bottom layer and they were really brassy. So, I go back in to get it toned and added more highlights to blend it together. All the toner washed out in a week. As, you can see in the pictures now my hair is orange on the bottom layer and light blonde on the top. Then I called the salon and told them what was going on. I booked with a different stylist, Marissa. She toned my hair again and it looked fine when I left but the toner washes out in around 4 washes. So my hair is still 2 different colors. I then asked for a refund because I had been in 3 times to get my hair fixed and it was still discolored. Marissa said " I am not refunding you because you've had 3 times worth of work and toner, sorry for your troubles". Anyways, be careful. I do not recommend for brunettes.

I was looking for a new place to get my hair cut, and a friend recommended Moss & Moon. I had a great experience with Allison today! She did a great job with my hair, and she is so down to earth and easy to talk to. I was hoping for a more relaxed salon experience, and Moss & Moon delivered. The space immediately made me feel at ease when I walked in. If you're looking for an awesome haircut with great vibes, this is the place for you. I already have my next appointment scheduled.
