I loved my experience! The owner, JC, is awesome and fun to talk to! My hair turned out fabulous. I didn’t have the opportunity to meet the other ladies but I am convinced they are just as lovely as JC. If you are looking for a place to get your hair done, with an easygoing atmosphere, be sure to visit the Root Cellar.

Down below is a before and after picture of my hair, plus a back view. First of all I just want to say I am SO thankful I came to Root Cellar! My mother in law recommended this wonderful place to my fiance (her son) and I. We live an hour away and the drive is beyond worth it. I had JC, the owner of Root Cellar cut and style my hair. She was amazing, funny, and gave me EXACTLY what I wanted! I was so nervous because this is the first time I’ve gotten my hair cut and styled so short and I genuinely didn’t think I’d pull it off. But JC did absolutely wonderful and I’ll definitely be coming back, I’ll never go to anyone else ever again! She also came in on her off day (today) to help my fiance with a hair emergency. He had gotten it dyed somewhere else and they totally messed it up and didn’t give him what he wanted. JC came to the rescue! His hair is now a beautiful vibrant purple just like he originally wanted. The prices weren’t bad at ALL either! I think for getting my fiance’s hair dyed and mine cut, we spent a total of around $130 and that’s including the tip! (20%). Thank you so so much for making us look fabulous. <3

JC did a great job cutting my son’s hair. In Western Maine, it can be hard to find someone to cut Black folks hair, so I was delighted to find her! She kept my kiddo entertained, cut his hair quickly, and her price was very reasonable. She’s become my go to person for African hair!

TREMENDOUS location! I live an hour from this place, but there is zero exaggeration when I say I would drive double (or even triple) that just to get my haircut here. JC is the absolute best.
